Lori Suggs is a wife, mom, an educator, and an advocate for those with special needs. She has been an educator for 24 years, but her most important role is being mom to her two beautiful daughters. Her journey began when the younger of the two (18) was diagnosed with autism at an early age. Although the journey was not what she had planned, she fell in love and found incredible beauty and special gifts in her tour guide. She learned how to navigate life and the world of education to be the mama bear that her daughter needed.
Lori’s involvement with Buck Creek Foundation began in 2016 and grew from a desire to serve God. With her passion, hard work, and determination, she is a leader who can inspire action for God’s plan to unfold. Lori believes in the mission of Buck Creek: to better the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing opportunities for employment. Lori is driven to see this dream become reality because she does not see dis-ability. She sees a different ability.
Lori is certified in early childhood and elementary education. She has a master’s degree in special education, and she is a National Board Certified Teacher. Lori is a graduate of South Carolina’s PRO- Parents Partners in Policy making, and she served on the South Carolina Advisory Council for Students with Disabilities.
In her spare time, she likes to read, listen to music, and go to the beach. She teaches Sunday school and is a member of a discipleship group. She sings in her church choir and praise band (LiveLoud), and is a great prayer warrior.
